Dinwiddie County embraces it’s rich history while positioning itself as a wonderful place to call home.

Dinwiddie County was established May 1, 1752. Dinwiddie is only 25 miles south of Richmond, the state capital, and 140 miles south of Washington, DC, the nation’s capital.

Dinwiddie is governed by a five member Board of Supervisors and a County Administrator. The life-style of the county is ideally suited for family living. With a land area of 504 square miles, Dinwiddie is a blend of suburban and rural living, within two hours of the Virginia beaches and mountains.

Agriculture contributes significantly to our economy and to the quality of life enjoyed in Dinwiddie County. Beautiful Lake Chesdin is located along the northern boundary of Dinwiddie County. Dinwiddie County is a prime tourist destination in the region, serving as home to the Pamplin Historical Park and the National Museum of the Civil War Soldier, which is recognized as one of America's premier historical attractions and as the most innovative Civil War history park in the country. Dinwiddie County is recognized as the home to more Civil War battles in the United States. Additionally, the Virginia Motorsports Park (VMP) calls Dinwiddie County home and is the only park of its kind on the east coast.

Sports tourism is on the rise in Dinwiddie. The county recently completed the first phase of development of the Diwiddie County Sports Complex. The Complex is rapidly establishing itself as a premier destination for sports, in fact it is the only venue of its kind in the region, complete with fields for baseball, football, soccer and a centrally located state-of-the art concessions facility.
