The Board of Zoning Appeals consisting of five members is appointed by the Circuit Court of the County upon the recommendation of the Board of Supervisors of Dinwiddie County. The Board of Zoning Appeals may authorize variances from the terms of the Zoning Ordinance, hear appeals to the Zoning Administrators’ decisions and interpretations made in an administrative capacity, and resolve Zoning District boundary line discrepancies.
The Board of Zoning Appeals meets every other month on the third Thursday of the month. Meetings begin at 7:00 pm. Beginning in January of each year, there are a total of six monthly meetings scheduled annually.
There are five members who serve on the Board of Zoning Appeals, and each commissioner is appointed by the Circuit Court Judge with recommendation from the Board of Supervisors of Dinwiddie County to serve a five year term. There are five members appointed from each Board of Supervisors District.
