Land Tax Books 1782-1875

Dinwiddie's Land Tax Records

The Clerk's Office has converted the Land Books on Microfilm with the Library of Virginia from 1782 to 1885 into a pdf format for each year. These records are especially helpful when searching the land records prior to 1833. Prior to 1833 the deeds and land records were destroyed and this is the only record of land owners in the county.

Instructions for Searching Dinwiddie's Electronic Land Tax Records/Books

1. Select the year below that you are interested in searching. The A and B of the year denotes the different districts in the County. You may need to view both documents for that year. The document may a take few minutes to load.
2. Once the document has loaded you can save them to your computer for future use and viewing without having to download again.
3. The electronic Land Tax Record has been electronically formatted with a cover page that has been linked to the page where the last name of that letter appears.
