    1. Dinwiddie County Code §19-5(2) requires that any motor vehicle or trailer that acquires a situs in the county after January 1 or is transferred to a new owner within the county after January 1 must file a return with the Commissioner of the Revenue within 30 days after the change in status occurs. This requirement applies to new purchases, title transfers and vehicles moving in from other localities and from out of state. A penalty of 10% of the tax or $10, whichever is greater, will be assessed if the items are not filed within 30 days of purchase, transfer or movement into the county.
