Sheriff D.T. “Duck” Adams was elected sheriff of Dinwiddie County on November 8, 2011, defeating the incumbent sheriff, and took office on January 1, 2012. Sheriff Adams came to work at Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office in 1975 after his graduation from Dinwiddie County High School and spent his entire career with the department. During his tenure with Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Adams has held the position of dispatcher, jailor, patrol deputy, sergeant and lieutenant / chief investigator. Over the course of the career with the Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Adams has attended more than 30 different training sessions on various aspects of law enforcement and is a graduate of the Virginia Forensic Science Academy.
