In May 2007, the family of the late Robert and Betty Ragsdale graciously donated the old sewing factory in McKenney, VA to the Dinwiddie County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department. The family's wish was to see the building revitalized for the purpose of serving the community.
After several years of strategic planning, a ground-breaking ceremony was held on Friday, April 24, 2015 and an architect's rendering was revealed on "Coming Soon" signage.
Demolition and renovation has begun on the interior of the facility.
Progress continues on the interior of the facility and land is being cleared for parking and recreation spaces on the outside
By making a monetary donation to the "Leave a Legacy" program, citizens and friends of Dinwiddie County can have their name or that of a loved one, permanently displayed in the Robert and Betty Ragsdale Community Center.
